The winters in Canada can be cold and dry. When you go outside it is a good idea to put some salve on your face and hands. It has to be something oil based. This is to protect the skin and prevent it from cracking. Anything from vaseline to plain olive oil will work however there is a difference when it comes to recovery after the skin has suffered some kind of injury. Vaseline is not very good at helping it to to heal quickly.
Sea Buckthorn is a bush that grows in cold climates. It's native to the area of Russia and Ukraine but you can grow it in Canada. It has small orange berries (about 7mm diameter x 11mm height, egg shape, size varies). These berries contain a lot of vitamin A and vitamin C. Some people know these berries as natural measles remedy but they are generally good for your health. They are very sour but they are excellent when added to yoghurt and kefir. An oil can be extracted from the rather small seeds. You can get the fresh berries in Canada but the oil is usually imported from Ukraine or Poland because our Sea Buckthorn production is too small.
